Experiencing all seasons - weather that is

After a great breakfast, while rabbits hopped around outside, and the sun was rising over the escarpement, we headed off. As it was quite nippy some of us were a little wiser & put on our wet weather jackets, good idea. We pulled into a number of viewing areas to check out new canyons. Again - simply superb. It is fascinating to see how the scenery changes from one area to the next. Canyons to spires, cliffs to rolling hills. By this stage it was quite hot.

We then had our first sighting of the Colorado River (Powell's Colorado). Magnificant. Clint & Charleen found a viewing area that presented fabulous vistas of the Colorado River. We could see a number of people in their boats, and spent some considerable time looking wayyyyyy wayyyy down. Then off again, eventually crossed over the river, and continued through Glen Canyon National Park.
We were getting hungry & thirsty but there was no where to stop off on the way. We went into the Natural Bridges National Monument, a park that has 3 major bridges -Sipapu, Kachina & Owachomo. To see these we rode the one way nine mile loop drive, stopping off at each one. Beautiful and awe-inspiring.
We continued on, keeping an cautious eye on the weather, as very heavy rain clouds were in view. Just after we got back onto the main road the cloud cover came over, made it most pleasant, we even experienced a few drops of rain.
Some time later we made it to the town of Blanding, where we found a small diner for a late lunch & much needed drink (coffee 4 me). Once finished we headed back to get petrol - & while we were filling up the heavens opened up. My goodness - it poured, and there were great gusts of wind causing metal statues out in front of the petrol station to fall over, bins to move etc. Quite a storm. We decided to put on our wet weather gear, and headed off. By then the rain had pretty much stopped.
Feeling very warm due to all the extra gear, we were happy to make another stop at Wilson Arch where we removed the gear and checked out the arch.
Once done we headed off to Moab where we are for the night. We have just had dinner and returned to our rooms. Looking forward to seeing some more wonderful country tomorrow.
