3 States in a day - 386 miles

This morning the 4 of us (minus Clint & Charleen who are staying on in Albuqerque with Jack & Linda) left New Mexico, proceeded through Arizona, into Utah, staying tonight in San Juan, at a fabulous Inn on the river under great walls of rock.

The ride was great. We had a super morning tea at a bakery in Gallup, the most delicious assortment of items to tempt us all. The town had heaps of excellent colorful decorated buildings.

At the border of Arizona we rode past an Indian village (Chief Yellowhorse) beautifully decorated. Didn't go in, but hope to visit some road side stalls further on. Once again the scenery changed regularly, from long flat plains to continuous mountains and hills.

We turned off the Hwy at exit 333 leaving the mass of trucks to continue on, and commenced to bump & bounce our way along the longest stretches of road. The wind was once again an annoying factor, incredibly strong at times. Lunch was at a place called Chinle, the area busy with people, but the surrounding countryside remains stark and barren with very little greenery.

We continued through Monument Valley & took photo's of the famous Mexican Hat (rock) and masses of others. Just brilliant.

We have all just finished our tea, and I am sitting outside overlooking the river while in the process of doing this. Ken has gone for a walk (he's just come back), he has taken some super pictures of the river and surrounding area. Kerry & Bob have taken their camera and will be looking to add to their mass of pictures also. It is hard to take a bad picture. The area is just wonderful.
