Amarillo Texas to Albuqerque New Mexico

Today was a fairly straight forward day, leaving Amarillo this morning and heading off via the highways to New Mexico. The plains of Texas are big and flat, and appear to go on forever. We also received a fairly solid buffetting from a very strong wind, which is quite common judging by the lean on the trees, and also explains why there are multiple windfarms everywhere.

We stopped at the border to take photos, and then shortly after we turned off while Jack continued on home to Albuqerque. The ride was lovely, through rolling hills and moving into mountains. The buildings are quite special, adobe type, mostly very large and flash. We went past Santa Fe, a very large town, and down through Cerrillos, a small town that has some restored adobe buildings. Among the buildings is a church, Clint advises this was used in a film.

We also went through a town that was made famous by the film "Wild Hogs". It is now predominately little shops with craft items, jewellry etc for sale. Really lovely, but one could so easily spend a fortune. Lucky we are on the bike - limits ones capacity to buy!

We continued on until we reached Albuqerque where we went a bit wrong direction wise. Bob ended up going one way, we, with Clint & Charleen following went as per our GPS - & ended up at Jack & Linda's. Oops - after ringing Bob & loading the right address we headed off, saw quite a bit more of the city.

We then all met for dinner at a Mexican restuarant, very nice. It is a favorite of Jack & Linda's - and we now know why.

Back to the motel where I have been battling this system for some hours. Half way through I loose connection and all the info & photo's. Here's hoping this blog makes it!
